You Can Never Quarantine the Past

A while back I regretfully deleted my old blog in a vain attempt to disconnect myself a bit from the internet. Rather than simply stop posting, I got rid of everything and closed the account. Now someone named Makmur has control of it and posts pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal and I'm left with a user name I don't want as much. However, I made a promise to myself to start writing again and documenting my life after a lengthy period of inactivity. It feels good to be back.
It's a new year, I am unemployed and I've made a few resolutions for myself. Other than getting a job and writing more, I realized I have a lot of unread books on my shelf so it's time to knock the 12 books posted above out. It's certainly not an unreasonable task given that several of these are a very easy read and I have plenty of time on my hands. It's a little embarrassing that I haven't set aside 20 minutes a day to read in a while.
At any rate, I'm excited for this year and everything to come. I was freaked out about turning 30, but I've accepted the inevitable and all I can do is make the best of it. It's weird how age has evened out a lot of the emotional instability I dealt with as a teen/early twenty-something. It's nice to not have to deal with such extreme highs and lows and face things with a level head.
